A PERSONALISED PATHWAY TO SECONDARY

Hosted via digital conference, a collection of representatives from leading British schools in the region presented the benefits and opportunities of their Secondary Schools to parents of children in Year 4, 5 and 6 earlier this month.

Over 70 families attended the webinar as part of a three year programme of individualised guidance and consultation. Participants heard from a selection of school leaders before engaging directly as part of a live question and answer session.“The Secondary School Selection Programme available to Shrewsbury parents is unique in Hong Kong. The series of presentations, alongside others previously arranged by the team have proven immensely useful as we weigh the many options available to us ahead of Year 7.”  Ms Lam, Year 5 parent.

The process of Secondary School Selection is guided by a designated School Partnership Coordinator. Three distinct phases act to guide engagements over the course of a student’s final three years.

Standardised assessment scores, school reports, classroom observations and social analysis are combined with feedback from the student themselves and direct input from parents at every step on the journey.

Working with each family individually is immensely rewarding. Close partnership supports an informed process of selection and ensures that every student is successfully placed within a setting that allows them to flourish.”
Ms Chelly Tsang, School Partnership Coordinator

The journey of each family is mapped through a personalised Action Plan, which is extended and revised as it unfolds.

It is important to recognise that each plan will take unique form in both detail and length depending upon the nature of discussions held, the recommendations made and the actions taken by each family.“Shrewsbury students are in high demand. Through presentation from senior leaders at Harrow, Kellett, Malvern College and Nord Anglia, attendees will have developed their understanding of and appreciation for what these schools have to offer in their supported search for a setting that will allow their child to thrive.”
Mr Ben Keeling, Principal
