Shrewsbury Scholars are expected to uphold the highest standards and be a role model for other students. There are two forms of Scholarship available at Shrewsbury - both are strictly limited in volume. With Matilda and Sarah on the cusp of entry to their chosen secondary schools, they were keen to offer a few words of advice and encouragement to their successors.

“With nomination supported by school staff, Scholarship brings a very particular kind of attention upon your work at school. There are lots of treats and opportunities that come with the role, but it brings responsibility too,” Matilda advised.

“We’ve led tours, enjoyed time with members of the Board of Governors and even featured within magazine articles. We’ll treasure our memories of the experiences we’ve enjoyed and know that you are well prepared for everything to come,” shared Sarah.

Achievement Scholarships are awarded to students on roll in Key Stage 2 able to present an outstanding record of achievement. Nominations must be supported by at least two members of school staff. They are assessed by The Principal who then acts to present a recommendation for award to the School Management Committee.

“I greatly look forward to learning of the impact Alex and Cathy have in role,” explained Principal, Mr Keeling. “Determined, engaged and enormously capable, they have all of the attributes that you might look for in a Scholar - I know that they will do us all proud.”
