Early Years Open Morning

Parents of students in Early Years classes were invited onto campus recently to engage in a series of activities led by members of our specialist teaching team. With Choral taking place in the Auditorium and Physical Education delivered in the Sports Hall, Chinese language lessons provided parents with the opportunity to head upstairs and into our classroom and communal spaces.

"We had so much fun and stand in awe of the talented staff that lead learning across our school." Jessica, Nursery Parent

Early Years students benefit from full access to school facilities and specialist staff at Shrewsbury. Weekly visits to the Aquatics Centre and Recital Hall are further supplemented by unit specific visits to the Dance Studio and Gymnastics Centre. A daily programme of Chinese language and culture ensures that they are proud of their connection to the region, whatever their prior experience - sessions complement classroom themes, follow the interests of students and are driven by the power of play.

"As native Chinese speakers, we were delighted with the level of engagement and challenge available to our daughter." Derek, Reception Parent

Having played a full participative role, parents concluded the morning with tea, coffee and a selection of pastries - they were in excellent company.

"It is hugely important to us that every child receives every available benefit of a Shrewsbury education. A significant proportion of our students come to Hong Kong for an initially undetermined period and, while many stay for far longer than originally anticipated, we make sure that every day counts." Ben Keeling, Shrewsbury Principal
