Achievement Scholars

New and existing Achievement Scholars gathered for afternoon tea one day prior to the conclusion of another academic year to mark the passing of responsibility between one team and the next. Having been appointed in the summer of 2023 and soon to journey onto boarding schools in the UK for places in Year 7, Alex and Cathy were keen to offer words of advice and reassurance.

“The Scholar’s tie certainly draws attention, but it also brings responsibility and the respect of our peers. Scholarship has had a hugely positive impact on me as a person. I am excited about joining Packwood (Shrewsbury Prep) and look forward to hearing more about your successes next year.”

“Scholarship at Shrewsbury has provided me with a range of great opportunities. I have developed good relationships with members of the Board of Governors and led a number of school wide initiatives. I would encourage you to embrace everything that will follow your appointment.”

Scholars at Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong are expected to uphold the highest standards and be a role model for other students. There are two forms of Scholarship available at Shrewsbury - both are strictly limited in volume. Achievement Scholarships are awarded to students on roll in Key Stage 2 able to present an outstanding record of achievement. Nominations must be supported by at least two members of school staff in May each year. They are assessed by The Principal who then acts to present a recommendation for award to the School Management Committee.

“I have enormously enjoyed working so closely with Alex and Cathy this year. I have witnessed them flourish as individuals and develop greater confidence and assurance. Sam and Alicia are more than ready to make their own mark next year.”
