The New School Year

Following a weekend orientation, a first school week at Shrewsbury saw the hosting of several key events centring upon a commitment to a fast-growing community.

‘Education is an act of partnership. The flurry of interconnecting events hosted at the start of each school year allow students, parents and colleagues to revel in their newfound surrounds. Classrooms and learning spaces already abuzz with activity, we have settled swiftly into a productive rhythm.’

Ben Keeling, Shrewsbury Principal

The induction of the academic team concluded with the successful Saturday orientation of new student groups and the hosting of enrolled parents for a busy coffee morning preceded the hosting of a first campus tour with another group keen to learn more.

‘We have welcomed 100 new students into the school community this year. Each will offer a fresh perspective. They will stretch our thinking and challenge established norms. They will bring new thoughts and ideas. They will add vibrancy, diversity and colour to the lives of those around them. This is the joy of life in our school.’

Ben Keeling, Shrewsbury Principal

Care and Compassion is just one of the three values at the heart of the Guiding Statements that drive provision at Shrewsbury. Ambition is further demarcated within a strategic plan entitled Together We Flourish. Most critical to delivery this year, the opening of a new bilingual pathway in January 2025.

‘Underpinned by the academic rigour of the Early Years and Foundation Stage framework and the English National Curriculum, the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway (HQP) will be led by an outstanding team of native linguists offering an even balance of daily interaction in both Chinese and English’

Sophie Che, HQP Chinese Principal
