Together in Harmony: A Shrewsbury Musical Celebration
Earlier this term, the Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong Orchestra were delighted to welcome peers from the UK onto campus for an evening musical showcase.
Featuring the skills of musicians between the ages of 5 and 18, performances provided a demonstration of the connection shared between our family of schools.
‘We were both thrilled and delighted to welcome Shrewsbury students to Hong Kong from the rather chilly climes of Shropshire. Whilst the music presented proved a resounding and undoubted success with the many families in attendance, it was the quality and kindness of the relationships that bound students of different ages through rehearsal that will stand most prominently in my mind in the months that follow.’
Ben Keeling, Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong Principal
‘We turn to music for inspiration and consolation, for moments of reflection and joyful uplift. The links across, and between, the Shrewsbury family of schools are thriving.’
Leo Winkley, Shrewsbury School UK Headmaster
Led by the Director of Music at Shrewsbury School, Maria McKenzie, the evening concluded with the presentation of Danger Zone from the movie Top Gun. Performers left the stage to a standing ovation and deservedly so.
